Boycott 50 Shades

I’m no prude or evangelical but I also agree with this blogger. In an era where feminism is supposed to liberating and gender equity growing, we also see daily such mysogeny and in fact blatant violence against women. I think promoting S&M simply confuses the already complex dynamic of sexuality. Rape is still under reported and violence is being ignored or even condoned. Pop culture isn’t virtuous just because it’s trending.

Promoting 50 Shades, the books or the movie as liberating is just propaganda against women’s rights. Abuse is abuse no matter how many kisses or roses we use to paint over the bruises.

I read the book and was unimpressed. I won’t be seeing the film no matter how much money it makes.
