‘Silence of the LABS’ -CBC Fifth Estate .  Have it on your PVR?  Massive deregulation isn’t cost saving. It is massive disregard for governance. If not supervision and R&D of infrastructure and institutional systems that civility requires then why have government at all but to only support self interest. I’m getting just so sick of this arrogant unilateral majority Harper government, give me back the sponsorship scandal liberals. 😦 At least we could expect the science, medical and environmental  community not to be hampered or mussled.

…In the past few years, the federal government has cut funding to more than 76 world renowned research institutes and hundreds of programs. Ottawa has dismissed more than 2,000 scientists and researchers. The Harper government has cut programs that monitored smoke emissions, food inspections, oil spills, water quality and climate change.
