There’s no salmon fishing in Yemen, tourist board warns – Telegraph

This news story is a delightful tale of how modern media impacts our popular culture. Not only is salmon spawning in Yemen absurd but romanticism will not suspend belief. It’s an amusing film but its context is wrong on so many levels-socially, politically, scientifically, culturally, and even racial stereotypes border on contempt. What’s really amusing is how people rushed to Yemen to vacation for sports fishing that obviously dint exist. Hilarious or sad, I’m not sure which. Either way, the movie is still fun.
