On April 23rd, 2011, I had to tell two parents that their son died in a war that I do not believe in. The combination of my distrust in published American foreign policy objectives and my lack of agreeing with military intervention abroad instilled in me an overwhelming sense of role strain as I battled between professional representative of the Armed Forces and compassionate human being.
